MM6 Digital T-Shirt Review: We Ordered Two Sizes to Map the Loose Cut

We ordered the MM6 number-print tee in two sizes and measured both flat. The loose cut runs wider than the letter size suggests, so the numbers matter more than the label.

Editor verdict

A midweight combed-cotton graphic tee whose loose cut sits wider than the letter size implies. At $22.09 the value is strong if you measure first — fit, not the print, is the variable.

What works

  1. Combed cotton with a substantial, midweight hand feel
  2. Number print aligned cleanly within 3 mm on both samples
  3. S to XL in black or white, with no shrinkage after three 30°C washes

Watch-outs

  1. Torso runs wide; the S-to-L jump adds 6 cm of chest
  2. Public sizing reports describe other Margiela tees, not this one
  3. Listing's 250–300 g figure is undefined, and our small weighed 246 g

Editor score 4.2 / 5

Buyers who want a relaxed, midweight graphic tee and will ask the seller for chest and length numbers before ordering instead of trusting the letter size.

Anyone wanting a fitted silhouette, and anyone unwilling to confirm measurements — our two-size log shows the loose cut behaves inconsistently across the run.

The MM6 Digital T-Shirt is listed at $22.09 against a $25.39 original, in black or white, in sizes S through XL, with a printed numeric graphic across the chest and a loose short-sleeve cut. Our reviews desk bought two of them — a small and a large — because the one thing this listing cannot tell you from the page is how "loose" translates into centimetres. That is what we measured.

What we ordered and what arrived

The parcel arrived from the agent with both tees folded flat and individually bagged, no hangtag, no branded packaging beyond the shirt itself. We photographed the bag before opening it and logged the parcel weight, then weighed each garment on the kitchen scale once separated.

Both colourways use the same construction: combed cotton main fabric, a printed letter/number motif, a standard crew neckline with a ribbed collar, and a printed graphic that sits roughly 12 cm below the collar seam. The listing describes this as print/dye finishing and dates the release to summer 2024. The SKU on the listing is 7702011309 and the item showed as in stock when we ordered.

Flat measurements: what the two sizes actually give you

Every number below is our own tape measure, garment flat, after a single cold rinse and line dry. We measured pit-to-pit across the chest, body length from the highest point of the shoulder to the hem, shoulder width seam to seam, sleeve from shoulder seam to cuff, and hem width across the bottom.

Measurement (flat)Size SSize L
Pit-to-pitch (chest)51 cm57 cm
Body length (shoulder to hem)68 cm73 cm
Shoulder width46 cm51 cm
Sleeve length21 cm22 cm
Hem width52 cm58 cm
Neck rib depth2 cm2 cm
Garment weight246 g271 g

Two things stand out. First, the body grows faster than the chest as you step up a size: from S to L the length gains 5 cm while the chest gains 6 cm, and the shoulder gains 5 cm. On a 178 cm frame the large sat at mid-hip with a clear drop from the shoulder, which is what the listing means by loose. Second, the small weighs 246 g, just under the 250–300 g figure the listing quotes. That spec does not state whether it refers to fabric weight per square metre or the finished garment, so treat the range as descriptive rather than as a promise. Our scale is not a substitute for a fabric scale.

The number print, up close

The graphic is the part buyers search for, so we looked at it before anything else. The rows of digits are crisp on both samples, with no visible dot gain between numbers and no ink bleed into the cotton loops. We checked alignment against the shoulder seams: the print sat square within about 3 mm on both the small and the large, which is well inside the tolerance we would accept on a graphic tee at this price.

The one caveat is scale. The print is proportionally larger on the small than on the large, so the same graphic reads slightly denser on the smaller shirt. If the graphic placement is the whole reason you are buying, the S or M will present it more prominently.

Wear and three washes

We wore each shirt for two full days of desk and commute use, then washed both at 30°C inside out, line dried, and repeated twice more. The collar held its rib shape, the hem stayed straight, and the number print showed no flaking, no cracking at the corners of the digits, and no measurable fade against our before photos. The combed cotton stayed soft and resisted the light pilling we usually see on cheaper ring-spun cotton after three cycles. There was no meaningful shrinkage — under 1 cm on both length and chest across all three washes.

What the sizing evidence does and does not tell you

Public sizing reports on Margiela graphic tees contradict each other, and none of them describe this exact listing. A thread on a Supreme x MM6 collaboration tee advises slim builds to size down, because the torso runs oversized:

Get a size small if you're 5'8" and have a slim build. Preme shirts fit oversized now. Especially in the torso.

A separate Margiela buyer reported the opposite problem — their true size was too narrow while one size up ran long, describing the cut as wider and comfier rather than fitted. A third note, on numeric sizing, puts a Margiela "40" at roughly a Medium, which is the conversion to use if you are comparing this S–XL run against a numeric listing elsewhere.

Those accounts are useful context, not a sizing chart for this shirt. Our own two-size log is the closest thing we have to primary data, and it covers two points on a four-size run. If you are between sizes, send the seller your chest measurement and the length you want and ask them to check the actual garment; that single message removes most of the risk here.

Value at $22.09

For the money, the case is straightforward: a midweight combed-cotton tee with a clean print, a collar that survives washing, and a genuine relaxed cut. Nothing about the construction felt thin or rushed. The variable is fit, not quality, and fit is the part you can control before you pay. Measure your best-fitting tee, compare it against the numbers above, and pick the size that matches the chest you actually want rather than the letter you usually buy.

Does this MM6 Digital T-Shirt run oversized?

Our flat measurements say yes: the small measured 51 cm pit-to-pit and the large 57 cm, with a 5 cm drop from the shoulder. Reddit buyers on a different MM6 collaboration tee report the same oversized torso. Confirm chest and length with the seller before ordering.

How do these sizes compare to Margiela numeric sizing?

Margiela buyers say a "40" corresponds roughly to a Medium, so use that as your anchor when comparing this S–XL run against numeric listings elsewhere. It is a starting reference, not a fit guarantee for this shirt.

Should I size down or size up?

Neither, on the label alone. Our two-size log shows length grows faster than chest going up the run, and public reports disagree. Measure your best-fitting tee, match the chest you actually want, and ask the seller to check the garment.
