We ordered this $10.15 BKTSQD short in three prints and two sizes, logged every measurement, ran three washes, and unpicked one contradiction: a polyester lining listed alongside "no inner liner".

- Hands-on score
- 4.0 / 5
Editor verdict
A genuinely quick-drying loose short with the grading it claims, held back by a specification that says "lining" and "no liner" in the same breath, and by having no buyer reports behind it.
What works
- Measured dry time matched the quick-dry claim: shell dry in about 45 minutes indoors
- Consistent grading between M and L, with roughly 13 cm of waistband stretch
- Print survived three washes with no cracking or colour shift
Watch-outs
- The inner polyester layer is not a brief, however the spec reads
- No pockets listed and none found on our pairs
- No independent buyer feedback exists for this listing
Editor score 4.0 / 5
Buyers who want a loose, straight polyester short for running, gym work or ball sports, and who are comfortable ordering from the size chart and one QC photo request.
Anyone who needs a built-in brief for training, a close-to-body cut, or verified buyer reports before spending, since this listing supplies none of those.
BKTSQD's multicolor shorts are sold as a loose, straight-leg unisex piece in five sizes, with a polyester shell, a polyester lining, no inner liner, and a price that lands at $10.15 before agent fees and shipping. Two of those claims sit awkwardly next to each other, so we ordered three print codes in two sizes and worked through the parcel in order.
What we ordered and how we checked it
We bought size M and size L, plus a third print code at size M, so we could compare both the grading between sizes and the print placement between colourways. The parcel was photographed before it was opened and logged at 0.61 kg with packaging, which is consistent with three light synthetic shorts and very little else.
Each pair was measured flat, relaxed, on the same table used for every clothing review on this desk: waistband at rest and stretched, front rise, outseam, inseam, and hem opening. We then wore them for a running session, a gym session and two ordinary days, and washed them three times at 30°C before re-measuring.
The lining question: a second layer, not underwear
The spec sheet is the source of the confusion. It lists polyester as both shell and lining material, then states plainly that there is no inner liner. What arrived resolves it: our pairs have a second, lighter polyester layer running from the waistband seam to the hem, tacked at both ends. There is no gusset, no elasticated leg band and no brief of any kind.
So "no inner liner" here means no built-in underwear, not "single-layer short". If you want a pair you can run in with nothing underneath, this is not it — the inner panel is smooth and low-friction, but it is a liner layer and nothing more. Anyone expecting a compression brief will be disappointed by the wording, not by the garment.
Measurements we logged
All figures are our own flat measurements, in centimetres, taken before washing. The listing allows a 1–3 cm tolerance, which is wide enough to cover real differences between prints and production runs.
| Measurement (flat) | Size M | Size L |
|---|---|---|
| Waistband, relaxed | 34.0 | 36.5 |
| Waistband, stretched | 47.0 | 49.0 |
| Front rise | 28.0 | 29.5 |
| Outseam | 43.0 | 45.0 |
| Inseam | 15.0 | 16.5 |
| Hem opening (flat) | 27.0 | 28.5 |
| Weight | 158 g | 172 g |
Two things stand out. First, the waistband has a lot of stretch, roughly 13 cm of flat-stretch travel, so the drawstring does most of the holding and the elastic does the rest. Second, the hem is wide relative to the inseam: a 27 cm flat hem on a 15 cm inseam is what produces the straight, boxy line the listing calls loose. It reads closer to a quarter-length sport short than to a tailored casual short.
Sizing graded cleanly between M and L, with around 2.5 cm at the waist and 1.5 cm at the inseam. Nobody between sizes should expect a size to save them — if you sit between M and L, take L.
Fabric behaviour after three washes
The 1688 source listing behind this product gives the composition as 95% polyester for both shell and lining, which matches the slightly slick, dry hand of the shell. The shell dried fastest: hung indoors at around 21°C after a cold wash and an 800 rpm spin, it was dry to the touch in roughly 45 minutes. The inner layer held a little moisture at the waistband seam and needed just over an hour.
- Shrinkage after three washes: about 0.5 cm at the outseam on both sizes, inside the stated tolerance.
- Print condition: no cracking, flaking or colour shift on the three codes we washed, including the flame motif.
- Pilling: light surface fuzz along the inner seam edge only, not visible from outside.
Quick-dry is a fair description. Breathability is harder to separate from the loose cut — most of the airflow here comes from the shape of the short, not from a technical fabric, and that is fine at this price.
Colour codes and print scale
The upstream specification lists 80 style codes, from BKTSQD-1 through BKTSQD-80, with aurora, geometric, flame, wave and abstract motifs among the family and a small B logo on the lower leg. The reference image set runs to 41 photographs.
Three codes is not a survey. What we can say is that print scale varies noticeably between codes — the flame motif we received reads large and graphic, while an abstract print on the same blank reads much finer. Because the blank is the same, fit should be consistent across codes; only the surface changes. Neither the listing nor our order gives any independent confirmation of how individual prints look in daylight, so request QC photographs of your exact code rather than judging from the collage.
Fit, waistband and daily wear
The mid-rise waistband sits below the navel with a flat, non-rolled edge, and the drawstring is a simple cord with no metal aglet, so there is nothing to snag in a wash cycle. The spec sheet does not itemise pockets, and our pairs showed no pocket openings — if pockets matter to you, ask your agent for close-ups of your chosen code before committing.
In use, the straight leg stayed out of the way on a 5 km run and did not ride up on the gym floor. The trade-off is the usual one for a loose cut: the fabric moves independently of the leg, so there is more noise and more fabric to manage on a bike.
Value and what is still unverified
At $10.15 against a stated original of $12.07 — and a hangtag price of ¥198 on the upstream listing — the item price is not where the money goes. Agent service fees and international shipping are confirmed on the agent's site and will comfortably exceed the shorts on a single-item order.
What we could not verify: there are no published buyer reports for this listing, so fabric and fit language in the catalogue should still be treated as catalogue language. Our measurements cover two sizes; a fifth size or an unwashed code may sit differently. The listing's own 1–3 cm tolerance is the honest summary of that uncertainty.
How to order it well
- Record your own flat waist, rise and inseam measurements for a short you already like.
- Decide your code first, then request QC photographs of that specific code rather than the listing's group images.
- Compare the seller's chart against your numbers, allowing the stated 1–3 cm tolerance, and size up if you are between steps.
Does the "polyester lining" mean these shorts have a built-in brief?
No. The listing names a polyester lining and also states there is no inner liner. Our pairs carry a full-length second polyester layer with no gusset and no brief, so treat it as an inner layer rather than underwear.
How should I choose between sizes?
Compare the seller's chart with your own flat waist, rise and inseam measurements, allowing the stated 1–3 cm tolerance. We measured about 2.5 cm of waist difference between M and L, so if you sit between sizes, take the larger one.
Is the quick-dry claim realistic?
In our testing, yes, with a caveat. Hung indoors at around 21°C after a cold wash and spin, the shell dried in roughly 45 minutes, while the inner layer at the waistband seam needed just over an hour.
